Weebly is building a new DevOps team that will be more development focused versus traditional system administration and systems engineering. The ideal candidate will have a strong software development background with a solid understanding of underlying systems, services and data store technologies.
Proficiency in at least one programming language (PHP, C/C++, Java)
Proficiency in at least one scripting language (Bash, Perl, Python, Ruby)
Experience with HTTP/RPC/REST API development
Experience with Relational databases, such as MySQL or Postgres
Experience with caching mechanisms and unstructured data stores (Redis, Memcache, Hadoop, or similar technologies)
Experience with Message Queues such as (RabbitMQ, ActiveMQ, Kafka or similar technologies)
Demonstrated ability to learn new programming languages and technologies
Strong knowledge of Unix/Linux systems
Experience with configuration management is a plus (Puppet, Chef, Salt, Ansible)
Familiarity with integrated build systems and testing frameworks
Your responsibilities will include:
Work closely with Engineering and Operation teams to help bridge the gaps between application and architecture designs and solutions.
Work closely with our Network/Systems/Software Engineering teams to ensure fast, smooth roll-out of new designs, features and products.
Instrumentation for monitoring the health and availability of services including fault detection, alerting, triage and recovery (automated and manual).
Improving our application and system monitoring tools (OpenNMS, Grafana, Logstash/Kibana) to expedite troubleshooting problems.
Performance management, including benchmarking and monitoring of vital metrics, capacity planning, and resolution of performance problems affecting service levels.
Troubleshoot application and system issues incoordination with Engineering and Operations teams
Create and review documentation and process around recurring issues, tools, new standard operating procedures, knowledge transfer material, etc.
